On the way home, Ricki and Mr Gale met Mr Davis, who they knew had spent his holidaysholidays in this part of the countrysidecountryside for many years. "Can you tell us how to get to Pink Beach?" Ricki askedasked him.

"No," said Mr Davis, "I haveI've     oftenoften heard about Pink Beach but I've never been there. Ask Mrs JacksonJackson at the orchardorchard down the road.

They visitedvisited the orchard, and while Ricki was chompingchomping on a juicy apple,apple, Mr Gale asked, "Do you know the way to Pink Beach, Mrs Jackson?"sutrannu Apple Tree

She, too, answered,answered, "No, I amI'm    afraid I do notdon't.   I've heard people talk about it, of course, but I've never been there myself.myself. People say the sand is reallyreally pink! Ask Mr RandallRandall at the Post OfficeOffice in town."

At the Post Office Mr Randall shook his head. "Pink Beach? No, I don't know the way. I've heard about it often, but I've never been there. Ask Mr Graham.Graham. His farmhousefarmhouse is on the hill aboveabove the old fish factoryfactory that's been emptyempty for years."

So Ricki and his father rowedrowed acrossacross the river, anchoredanchored the boat near the fish factory, and climbedclimbed the hill to Mr Graham's house. "Good morning, Mr Graham," said Ricki's father. "Can you tell us the way to Pink Beach?"

"Well," Mr Graham answered, "I have nothaven't    been there for twenty years or more, but I think I can still tell you the way. FollowFollow this ridge of hills until you come to the end of my farm, and then you will see a clay road goinggoing towardstowards the coast. Follow the road until you come to a shallowshallow sandysandy lagoon with a long, low, bush-covered hill on the far side. Cross the lagoon and the hill, and there you will see the Pink Beach."

Ricki and his father thankedthanked Mr Graham for telling them the way, and for lettingletting them go over his farm.
