When they arrivedarrived it was dark and they were far too tiredtired to notice what the cottagecottage was like. They fell intointo bed immediatelyimmediately and were soon sleepingsleeping like logs.
Next morning, when they woke up early with the sound of a choir of birds singing piercepiercingly outsideoutside their window, they found that they were situatedsituated quite high up on the riverbank,riverbank, so that they had a splendidsplendid view from the windows of their cottage, straight down intointo the water.
One afternoon,afternoon, severalseveral days later,later, Mr Gale and Ricki were talkingtalking to a farmerfarmer who had livedlived in the area for a long time. “This is a lovelylovely place, but there is notisn’t much sand to play in,” commentedcommented Ricki.
The farmer said, “Well, there isthere’s plentyplenty on the coast. You could walk over the hills, or go out on the river in your boat to find it. But while you areyou're stayingstaying here, you reallyreally should visit Pink Beach, if it isit's sand you want. The sand there is actuallyactually pink!"
“That sounds like a great idea,” said Mr Gale. “Can you give us directionsdirections for how to get there?”
“Nope, sorry,” said the farmer. "I haveI've heard about it ever since I was a young boy, but I’ve never been there. SomeoneSomeone else may know though.”
