Fishing From Our Boat
As I took my first step from jettyjetty to boat, the vesselvessel wobbledwobbled and I nearlynearly trippedtripped over. After I got my balance,balance, I walkedwalked calmlycalmly acrossacross to get my life jacket.jacket. The grownupsgrownups hoppedhopped on the boat and nearlynearly trippedtripped over into the bumpybumpy water too. Then the engineengine startedstarted to roar. A few minutesminutes laterlater the jetty had disappeareddisappeared intointo the distancedistance and we were out now.
My Dad turnedturned the key off and suddenlysuddenly it was peaceful.peaceful. We liftedlifted the kontikikontiki out and threadedthreaded the bait ontoonto the twenty hooks. I blockedblocked my nose and felt like I was goinggoing to spew. Then Dad turnedturned the music on. “Dad, wouldwon't not that scare the fish away?” I asked.
“ProbablyProbably not,” Dad replyreplied. I sat down and watchedwatched until the kontiki drifteddrifted out slowlyslowly like a miniatureminiature yacht onon the ripplerippling sea.
As I smelledsmelled the deliciousdelicious pie that Dad handedhanded me on a plate, I took my biggestbiggest bite and got the mince all aroundaround my face. I sat back and enjoyedenjoyed the fresh air blowingblowing gentlegently through my hair.
About thirty minutes later,later, my Dad announcedannounced that it was time to bring in the kontiki. BubbleBubbling along, the kontiki bounced along the surfacesurface and zzzzzzz we saw fifteenfifteen good-looking fish appear, hanginghanging by their mouths from the evil-looking hooks. Dad hi-fivedhi-fived me and said, “This will make a good meal, mate.”
