Emma's Tall Tale
Emma Li was so confidentconfident that she could go in a spookyspooky dark cave with spider webs and bats. When it was her birthday she could even go on the scaryscariest rollercoasterrollercoaster in the world. When she went to America she saw an advertisementadvertisement for America’s Got Talent so she signed up.
The next day it was her piano concert in America’s Got Talent. She could see the big roomyroomy hall, filled with lots of people. She straightenedstraightened her back, lifted her head up, and smiled. Suddenly, she heard a drip! drop! She wondered what it was so she looked outside. The heavy rain was splashing on the ground and splatteringsplattering on the window. She thought that when she played the piano, nobody would hear her music over the sound of the rain. But she just kept on walking. She went past chairs, looking at the audience. Up on the stage was a big piano. She sat on the soft chair, pulled out her puffypuffy skirt, and set her hands on the keys.
Emma started playing. She could feel everybody relaxing in the hall of America’s Got Talent. Her fingers were moving quickly across the keys, like water tricklingtrickling down a waterfall. She was thinking about winning the golden trophy so her Mum and Dad could be really proud. But she wasn’t thinking about her long, difficult piano piece. When she got to the middle, she suddenly forgot the last part. BANG! She just stopped in the middle of the piano piece.
She took a deep breath, and wondered nervously, nervously, “Should I stop or start again?” But while she was thinking, the audience was starting to get frustrated.frustrated. So she quickly started again and this time she concentrated as hard as she could. When she got to the end of the piano piece, she took her hands off the keys, put them on her lap, and smiled a relieved little smile.
From then on Emma Li always concentrated when she was playing piano, even when she was feeling super confident!
