There was a war around them and one day soldiers came to their village. The mother told the girls to go and hide in the forest. When they saw the soldiers kill their mother they ran deeper into the forest. The girls were very hungry and lost.
They went to another village and a woman found them hiding. She asked them, "What are you doing here all alone?" They told her what had happened and she told them that they could live with her and her two daughters as long as they did some chores. They ended up doing all the work while the woman and her daughters did nothing. They were just like slaves.
The mother thought that she should have a big house and that she should have meat every day because she had two slaves. She also thought that her daughters should marry rich husbands. So when the prince announcedannounced that he was going to allow all the locallocal girls to attend his ball to choose a bride, the stepsisters spent a lot of time getting ready.
Sandra and Sandrina were not allowed to go because they had chores to do. The ghost of their mother appeared before them and told Sandra that she was going to the ball. She was so beautiful that the prince immediately fell in love with her.
Unfortunately the story has a sad ending because the stepmother was jealous and angry and she poisoned Sandra's food. The first time the ghost mother was able to save her but the second time she did not listen and she died. Her sister ran into the forest and her ghost mother was so angry that she chased her further in and she was never seen again.
