Welcome to Love to Learn
This website has come about from working with bright young students experiencing a range of processing difficulties affecting their ability with reading and writing. They have worked hard at acquiring strategies around context and syntax but struggle often to find a way into individual words. I have been working on building up a phonics and grammatical toolbox that they can access to assist them. This includes the following:
- short, interesting texts of varying text types, with phonics and grammar information hidden under the words to be accessed if required
- short guides for discussion around comprehension and spelling strategies
- posters for display and easy access for students
- downloadable and printable games to reinforce phonics and grammar
- exercises to build vocabulary and powerful sentence building
- follow-up activities for using the texts to spark writing and student enjoyment
- contributed writing, with a checklist and moderated peer-feedback
Teacher/Tutor/Parent-Teacher subscriptions give access to the whole site but students will only access the Home, Contributions and Resources sections. This is to make sure that the texts for lessons are always new to the student.
Where I have used images, these are mostly from wikimedia and from openclipart. Otherwise I have attributed the image individually.
